Okay, I have a question for those of you that have a book published.
How do you feel when you see a copy of your book, the one you lovingly wrote sitting on a shelf in a charity shop for 99p or similar price.
If you see that the spine is creased and the the book has obviously been read, maybe more than once do you feel good? Or are you just narked that someone is going to buy a copy of your book and you're not going to get any royalties out of it.
I'm not sure how I would feel if it were me. A bit of both I suppose.
Of course this question isn't only for those of you that have actually had a book published. I'd be interested to know what any of you think.

I think I would be happy to see my book anywhere, if it was published. I'm not in it for the money so any kudos would be great.
I'd be ecstatic ... and in fact, I would probably buy it! I dunno, it would just be nice to have a copy that has been read by someone else ...
But I'll give it more thought if I ever get to that point!
I'm with you guys, I'd be thrilled. But I wonder how I would feel if it were how i earned my living. I've read in the past that some published authors don't like people buying and selling books on ebay but maybe charities are different. But speaking as someone who works for a charity I know for a fact that selling previously owned books raises a lot of money so I'm all for it. I'm willing to bet that Christina Jones whose book I was looking at when I thought if this question wouldn't mind either.
Nah, i think I would rather have someone read my book and tell their friends about it than have another 50cents in my pocket (assuming thats the current royalty rates!).
Of course, that wouldn't work if I bought the aforementioned book myself ... but hey ...
But you would have the warm and fuzzy feeling that your book ha helped people in need. That's gotta be worth 50 cents. Also the person who buys a book second hand will hopefully be so impressed by it that they will pre order your next book.
