Second nudge?

Two weeks ago I nudged the editor that had had a couple of my stories for 9 months. You may remember that I was uncomfortable doing it. I read today that Jill Finlay has had to put a stop to submissions for a couple of months and reading womags post you can appreciate the amount of work that an editor has to do. I haven't heard anything back from my nudging yet but I guess I can forgive them for that. Just out of interest how long do you give it before you give a second nudge?

I've been want to give a nudge, but I'm fightened to do so in case they say 'Here you go,' as they hand it over, 'by the way, no, we haven't read it yet, but you wanted it back.'

But nine month does seem like a long time. :-(

Nine months does seem a long tome Paula but I know of someone else who has had stuff with this editor for the same amount of time. I'm really glad to find out that it's not just me who is wary of nudging.

I've never nudged about a story - probably carelessness on my part! If I do remember an editor's had my story for more than six months without a response, I tend to assume it's got lost somewhere (or never arrived in the first place) and resubmit :o)

That's a healthy attitude Karen - I'll try to adopt it.
