Getting to know them again.

I've spent the last hour reading through the 19k words that I already have down on NRIMH, reacquainting myself with all of the subsiduary characters and who is connected to whom. I discovered that I'm rooting for S, that I actually feel sorry for J and that H's son started of being called James but became Peter a bit later. I settled on James. Let the new words roll.

It is a good idea to reacquaint ourselves with the characters. Funny how you said that about the names - recently I was reading a short story mag and found the character's name had changed half way through the story. I was surprised neither the writer or editor picked up on that. :-)

This made me smile, Colette. I'm always changing the names of my characters. Sometimes they just feel wrong after a while! I think, too, you have to be careful not to have names that are too similar, starting with the same letter or rhyming etc, so the reader doesn't get confused!

Diane - that happened to me recently too. Wonder if we read the same story.
FP - I will.
Olivia - I once had a MC called Tim whose dad was called Tom. Very confusing until Tom became Keith.
