Nudging

Heard on the grapevine (well Facebook) yesterday that an editor is up to date with the stories that they have received for which I am sure they were doing a happy dance. However, I sent them a story back in the first half of 2012 that I still haven't heard about  so I have had to email them and ask about it. Why do I always feel like a pest when I do that. Not that I have done it very often but when I have, I 've always felt like I'm being a nuisance.

I know what you mean, I hate querying too, but I think as long you do it nicely they don't mind. Editors are only human after all - I think ...

I know exactly what you mean. I hate nudging, in fact I rarely do it now as I always feel so guilty - a nuisance as you say, but I have to say whenever I have nudged, the editors have always been lovely and never seem to mind x

I'm glad its not just me and Karen and Teresa I know you are both right when you say that the editor won't mind (I did do it very nicely) but I'd still rather not do it.

I think we're all the same! But what we do have to remember is that editors NEED us at least as much as we need them, and a polite nudge will, I'm sure, be acceptable.
