Almost there

I've spent the best part of three hours editing and polishing the rewritten 3 chapters of BTL and I think that I am at that stage again where I am almost tired of reading them. I know it practically word for word. I also know that I could carry on faffing with it forever - just changing things for the sake of it.
With that in mind I think that I'm going to leave it a day or two and then come at it again for a final polish and then send it off.
That's the plan at the minute anyway.

Sounds like you have the right plan. I know how you feel, even after 4 months of leaving the novel to'rest' I still seem to know it word for word but I'm enjoying the read now though an can look at it more objectively.

I hope its the right plan Lily. I just so desperately want to get these three chapters right - then if the agent likes the changes she (whoops let the gender slip out there) suggested I can work on the rest of the book. If not its back to the drawing board. How's your book coming along?

Hi Colette. Fingers crossed for the partial. Do you have a CP who could run their eyes over it for you? Caroline x

Thanks Caroline. One of my best friends has had a look at the first 2 chapters for me.

Sounds good. Keep at it.

Think you're absolutely right to leave it for a few days and then come back to it with fresh eyes - just in case something major jumps out at you. But if not, just send it on its way. There's nothing worse than when it gets to the stage where you are fixated on the position of one word.

Sounds like a great plan, Colette.

Helen - I hope I'm on the right track.
David - you're right. I think its very easy to get hung up on a couple of words that at the end of the day probably won't make any difference.
