Cold comfort

I got my first rejection today - well yesterday really but I didn't open the email until today. The editor said "Very well written but not what I'm looking for at the moment."
Somehow that doesn't make me feel better.
No, having written that has made me think about it, they said it was "very well written" (direct quote) so I know that the writing is okay I just have to find he right market.
Maybe that is some comfort after all.
I'd rather they'd accepted it though.

Hugs on the rejection, Colette - there seems to be a lot floating about at the moment. But great news about the comment - I'm not surprised :-))

Hi Colette, Sorry to hear about the rejection. I know nothing will make you feel any better, but at least they did take the time to given you a comment of sort. Nowadays, even a small comment like that shows you that they thought enough of your work to rely. If it is right, and we are lead to believe these companies are inundated with submissions that they don't have time to comment on them the fact they took the time to comment on your work is praise indeed.

Best of luck with the next one.

I would take that as a great compliment! Great writing - try elsewhere!

Thanks everyone and I know you are all right.
Amanda - you are very kind.
Jarmara - I do thank the editor for taking the time.
Flowerpot - I will.
Debs it wasn't nice but it does go with the territory.

I definitely left a comment, but it seems to have vanished. Along the lines of "I had 7 rejections this week if that's any consolation!" Yes, 7!!

That fact that the editor commented means you must have got very close - not that it helps much, but I'm sure you'll find a market for it :o)

7 rejections in a week. I am very impressed that you have that many things out there. I soon got over my disappointment you'll be pleased to hear. One good thing about having a memory like a sieve is that I forget how bad things felt very quickly.
