Anybody else getting comments left in Russian. It can't be good and God knows what they're offering me but I'm sure I don't want it.

It's probably just spam. You have comment vetting enabled, so use it! Word verification may also help to slow down the spammers, especially the automated ones.

Do I not have word verification on? How do I do that?
Customise > Settings > Comments > (scroll down) Show word verification for comments? = Yes > Save Settings.
