Although I'm off for a couple more days I now consider my jollies officially over ya boo hiss!!!
Anyway, just to follow on from what I posted last week.
I was reading a magazine earlier in the week which was published a few months ago. I found it and realised that I hadn't finished it. There were still a couple of stories to read. There was also an interview with an author who's books are regularly found on the shelves of all good book shops. Anyway they were asked what advice they would give to any would be writers and they said and I quote, "You've got to want it more than life itself."
OH COME ON!!!!
It's not the sentiment that I'm on about. Obviously we all want it, maybe not as much as life itself, but we do want it. But this is someone who earns their living from writing and I would have hoped that they could have come up with something less cliched.

Avoid clichés like the plague, that's what I say!
You and me both Captain. There's an article in this months Writers News that says the same too.
I know I got in trouble from my OU tutor if I even breathed a cliche! ... Sorry, don't know how to do the little accent over the E.
:-)
I don't know either annie but maybe if we ask nicly Captain will tell us. Are you still doing the OU course?

Hi Gonna Be
Yes, I'm still doing my OU Course. I'm doing Advanced Creative Writing next year. Looking forward to that.
Annie.
p.s. Thanks to Captain Black :-)
But wanting something doesn't always mean getting it, does it? Look at all the wannabes on X-Factor and the like who say 'I really really want this' but they haven't wanted it enough to a) learn how to sing and/or b) learn the lyrics of the song they're supposed to be singing.
So wanting it 'more than life' is not enough. You've got to work at it too.
Talking of X Factor - I think it's back this week. I love the auditions because they are hilarious. How can so many totally tone deaf people believe that they can sing?
It is sort of compulsive viewing, isn't it? I'd fallen out with it this year though because the winner (imo) was tone deaf! It should definitely have gone to Rhydian.
